When Erica initially reached out to me, I was beyond elated to get to know her! Between our love of the South and all things Chick-fil-a (I mean, come on, y’all…) I knew that we would be able to create something remarkable. I grew up seeing my grandmother quilt and some of our favorite heirlooms are the quilts that my husband’s grandmother left to him when she passed away. Erica specializes in creating custom quilts, made with the same love and care that we’re known for in the South, with a touch of modern day class.
According to Erica, this is what she wanted in a new brand for her growing business…
I want this new brand to convey professionalism and to truly capture the heart of the southern women and heirloom meanings. What sets me apart is that I am truly the link between the past- all those memories and nostalgia you have in your grandmothers quilts- I connect those feelings and traditions with the same quilts but in your style and for your modern family. My quilts are all handmade and not mass produced so each is truly a work of art. My style is modern- bright, light and colorful very different from the quilts of yesteryear.
Together we set to work building an inspiration board, identifying who Erica was as a business owner and what dynamic she really wanted to represent Sew EMG.
From there, came our initial design concepts…
Erica was able to narrow it down pretty quick and we added some color and the beginning graphics. Having come from a long line of quilters, I am pretty familiar with the variety of patterns and colors that are used in quilting. I thought it would be fun to incorporate that into this design. Erica had made the comment during one of our email conversations that, “nothing says ‘southern’ like blue gingham.” I decided to take that and run with it. Creating a custom pattern & graphic that we would use throughout the design:
Erica narrowed down the text elements of the design to two varieties:
When Erica made her choice we were able to finalize her site, creating some custom imagery and design work to give her this sweet, southern, antique feel that makes me want to just sip Sweet Tea and rock in my rocking chair.
When we were all finished, Erica had this to say about her Sweet Southern Branding Experience…
Thank you so much! I am so grateful for your talent and truly making my dream happen. You were a gem to work with and I am blown away with how perfectly you brought everything together! I am so excited about the future of Sew EMG, and I have you to thank for it all!
Be sure to head over to Erica’s site and take a peak! She’s a sweetheart, y’all and I could not be more in love with what we created!
